Kindergarten Countdown is an invitation-only program currently being hosted in Bluffton-Harrison Elementary, Ossian Elementary and Lancaster Elementary schools. The program places up to 20 children in a classroom with two licensed teachers for 4 weeks, half day.
Students are taught letters and numbers; they work on motor skills needed for kindergarten; and get comfortable with the school building, policies and each other. Children receive a new book each day and a file box to keep their books in that they will take home on the last day. Busing is provided, as well as school supplies and healthy snacks.
Parents will be notified early in the summer if their children are being invited to attend the classes. There is no cost to the family at all because it is fully funded by the United Way of Wells County.
